Whitehaven RLFC are ‘delighted’ to appoint their first Head of Communications and external agency as the rugby club focuses on future growth and their post covid comeback.
Oliver Hodgson and his agency Platinum Live have been appointed, Oliver said: “It’s fantastic to be working with Whitehaven RLFC as they look to refresh and develop their brand. We are focused on revitalising and modernising the clubs digital and traditional communication avenues.
PR boss Oliver who is based in Gosforth with a vast range of pre-existing clients said the hope is to transform the club’s digital presence, he explained: “We are aiming high for brand consistency and growth. The club has a strong fanbase and we are looking to not only grow that but have the club become renowned for engaging and striking content which will appeal to corporate sponsors, supporters and event attendees. The fact the club are investing in communications shows their commitment to growing their brand.
“The team at Whitehaven RLFC are extremely passionate and welcoming, which I believe will make this partnership even more successful moving forward. The club’s passion for the sport is electric, it has been interesting watching them over the last twelve months through covid times and how they have adapted and diversified their offerings. I’m very much looking forward to working with the club and their stakeholders over the coming months.”
Oliver also specialises in live events, which is said to strengthen the club’s expertise when summer returns and events start back. The club have lots of plans in the pipeline for the summer season.
Steve Nicholson, a Whitehaven Rugby League director said: “Whitehaven RLFC are delighted to link up in a partnership with local entrepreneur Oliver Hodgson, the MD of high-profile public relations company Platinum Live. Ollie will take up the role of Head of Communications and he will be looking to revitalise and increase the brand identity of the club.
